If you have been accused of a crime, it is vital you understand the charges brought against you as well as potential jail time, fines, and other punishments. The court process can be intimidating, and without effective counsel, you may be placing yourself at a significant disadvantage.

Our violent crime lawyers have experience helping clients charged with:
Violent crimes are those in which an individual uses physical force or threatens to harm another person. The violence itself can be a total offense, or it can be used as part of the performance of another crime. For example, a person who kills someone while committing a crime will be charged with felony murder, even if the person did not intend to commit murder. Under Georgia Code §16-5-1, a felony murder conviction is subject to life in prison, life in prison without parole, or the death penalty.
A wide range of offenses may be considered a violent crime. Each offense comes with many penalties, including steep fines, incarceration, and potentially paying monetary compensation to the victim (restitution).
Various defenses are typically available against criminal accusations. An affirmative defense justifies your actions. Admitting that you committed a crime but providing a valid reason should negate or reduce your liability.
In the case of assault and battery, you may have acted in self-defense. Under Georgia law, you are allowed to Stand Your Ground, meaning you do not have to retreat from imminent danger, even permitting you to use deadly force to defend yourself. In your home, you can use any level of force, including lethal force, to defend your residence (the Castle Doctrine).
If we cannot find a legal defense that applies to your circumstances, we will further examine how law enforcement handled the investigation.
If you are facing violent crime allegations, you need someone who can examine your charges and discuss your options. Law enforcement and the prosecution are interested in filing charges, but they will not perform their due diligence to find evidence releasing you from liability.
That is where our legal team comes in. Our criminal defense lawyers will do much more than review your charges; we will conduct our investigation to determine if the accusations against you are justified. To arrange your initial consultation, contact us online or by phone.
